What this actually costs

Hardware is rarely the expensive part — the experience behind the tap usually is. Below is what drives the price, honest starting points for each product line, and exactly what you get for them.

Starting points

Four product lines, four shapes of deal

These are indicative starting prices in US dollars, not a price list. Your quote depends on volume, finish and how much custom work the experience needs — and we put it in writing before you commit to anything.

Price our wedding
Indicative starting prices only. Final cost depends on volume, materials, finish, artwork complexity and any integrations. Hosted pages, dashboards and support run on a separate subscription that is quoted with the project. Every quote we issue is fixed and in writing before work begins — and we will tell you if a cheaper approach would serve you better.
Cost drivers

What moves the number up or down

Understanding these five usually saves more money than negotiating does.

Volume

Setup and tooling are fixed, so the unit price falls sharply as quantity rises. The step changes are usually at 500, 2,500 and 10,000 units.

Material & finish

A paper label and a brushed-metal card are different products. Foil, spot UV, soft touch, edge painting and bamboo all carry a premium.

Tag type

Standard inlays are the cheapest. On-metal tags with ferrite layers and tamper-evident frangible labels cost more because they are harder to make.

The experience behind the tap

A single profile page is quick. A verification system with serialised batch records, multilingual education content and a capture flow is a build.

Integrations

Pushing captured leads into your CRM, syncing a product database or connecting a loyalty platform is scoped and quoted on its own.

Timeline

Standard lead times are built into the prices above. Compressed turnarounds carry an expedite fee because they displace other work.

Always included

In every quote, at every size

Artwork setup and a digital proof
QR and short-URL fallback
HTTPS hosting and locked tags
Content you can edit after printing
Email and phone support
Replacement of faulty hardware

What a real project looks like

Three typical shapes of work, with the questions we would ask you. Figures are illustrative — yours will differ, which is exactly why we quote rather than publish a price list.

A spirits brand tags one line

Tamper-evident neck seals across a single release, with a verification page that also carries tasting notes and a registration offer, to see whether buyers engage before committing to the full range.

How the money splits

One-off hardware, ongoing content

Almost every quote we issue has two parts, and it is worth understanding why before you compare us with anyone else.

Paid once

  • The physical hardware — cards, labels, tags, stands
  • Artwork setup, proofing and any physical samples
  • Encoding, serialising, locking and testing
  • Design and build of the page behind the tap
  • Any one-time integration work into your systems
  • Shipping and per-site packing

Paid ongoing

  • Hosting the page your tags point at
  • The ability to edit content and change destinations
  • Analytics, dashboards and data export
  • Email and phone support
  • Verification records and anomaly reporting, where applicable
  • Event projects include a fixed hosting period instead of a rolling subscription

Worth checking with any supplier

If a quote looks unusually cheap, find out what happens to your pages when the subscription stops. Some providers point tags at a platform you do not control, so cancelling bricks hardware you have already paid for. Ask what you keep, ask whether you can export your data, and ask whether the tag's destination can be redirected to a domain you own.

Volume

Where the price steps down

Setup and tooling are fixed costs, so unit price falls fastest in the first few thousand. These are the bands where the economics change.

UNDER 100

Samples & single projects

One wedding, one person's cards, one counter. Setup dominates, so unit price is high and that is fine — you are buying a project, not a supply line.

100 – 500

First real run

Setup starts to spread. This is where most pilots and small-team rollouts land.

500 – 2,500

The useful pilot

Enough units to produce a statistically meaningful engagement rate, at a unit price that is no longer painful.

2,500 – 10,000

Production

Proper production economics. The biggest single step down in unit cost usually sits in this band.

10,000+

Programme

Priced individually against your specification, your schedule and your packaging. Talk to us rather than reading a table.

Building the case

How to justify it internally

If you have to take this to somebody who controls a budget, the argument that works is rarely "counterfeiting is a problem". It is a single line of arithmetic they can check.

  • Pick one number you already knowThe value of a customer, the cost of a support call, the margin on a reorder, the cost of a counterfeit claim.
  • Estimate conservativelyUse a pessimistic engagement rate. If the case only works at optimistic numbers, it does not work.
  • Compare per unit, not in total"Cents per bottle" is an easier conversation than "tens of thousands of dollars".
  • Scope the pilot to the questionSize it so that it answers one question definitively, then present the real number rather than a forecast.

If a pilot cannot pay for itself on one conservative assumption, we will tell you before you spend the money.

We would rather lose a small order than deliver a programme that quietly underperforms for a year.
Scope

What is not in the price

Being explicit about this up front avoids the most common cause of an uncomfortable conversation later.

Sales tax, duties and shippingQuoted separately and shown clearly on your quote.
Brand identity workWe apply your existing brand. If you need a logo or a visual identity designed first, that is a separate piece of work.
Photography and videoContent for the page behind the tap. We can art-direct it, or work with whatever you already have.
Deep system integrationsCRM connections, ERP syncs and loyalty platforms are scoped and priced on their own.
TranslationWe build multilingual pages; supplying or commissioning the translations is quoted separately.
Expedited turnaroundStandard lead times are in the price. Compressing them displaces other work and carries a fee.
Pricing FAQ

Commercial questions, answered plainly

Minimums, subscriptions, pilots and how to get a number you can put in a budget.

Request a quote

Five things: the chip and tag format, the print and finish, the volume, how much custom design the landing experience needs, and whether you need integrations such as a CRM connection or a serialised database. Hardware is rarely the biggest line — the experience behind the tap usually is.

The hardware is a one-off. Hosted pages, analytics, dashboards and support run on a subscription, which is what keeps your content editable after the cards are printed. One-off event projects such as wedding invitations include hosting for a fixed period.

For a single digital business card or one wedding, no minimum. For printed authentication tags, production economics start to work from a few hundred units, and the unit price drops sharply with volume.

Yes, and we usually recommend it. A pilot on one product line, one location or one team gives you a real engagement rate to budget against instead of an estimate.

Tell us the product, the quantity and what you want the tap to do. We come back with a fixed written quote, usually within one business day.
